Dodge Announces 2010 High Impact Colors |

For the 2010 model year, Dodge will offer Challenger in up to four unique “High Impact” colors.
B5 Blue will be extended beyond the 2009 model year and will be offered into the fall of this year on 2010 models. Following B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow will be offered on both R/T Classic and SRT8®. If you are looking for your Challenger in either B5 Blue or Detonator Yellow, get your order in today!
The next color to be introduced is one many of you have been waiting for – Plum Crazy, with a tentative production start date in the fourth quarter.
We are still cooking up plans to introduce one more color for the 2010 model year. If we can make it happen, the introduction will be in the Spring of the 2010 calendar year.
These “High Impact” colors augment a base palette that includes: TorRed, Inferno Red, Brilliant Black, Stone White, Bright Silver, Deepwater Blue and Dark Titanium

The Challenger is absolutely the best looking new car on the road. I heard from my dealer that Dodge isn’t taking orders for the plum crazy car anymore. please say it ain’t so. I want that car in that color but can’t order one until July, please tell me he’s lying

I’ve posted so many comments on green, I’m seeing green. When is FF opening up for dealers to order? I know the article states March, but more information makes me a happy potential buyer.

Hey JustPlumCrazy, Challenger sales are down nearly 40% from last year so don’t worry they will take your order, especially if it is an R/T Classic. They will probably offer it again in 2011 like they did the B5 blue. For God sakes, they should offer all of the colors all of the time and then change the grille, tailights, hood, stripe packages, interiors, etc. every other year. This is ridiculous…we may not need a car for another year or two and they try and force us to buy a car before we need one. Hello, our wife then says forget you and buy me a new minivan first and then we end up with no car. Very bad marketing practices which brought them to bankruptcy and will bring them there again! You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. I am ready to buy an old 70 ‘cuda and move on already.

Wasn’t this going to be the Dodge Circuit? Now I know why Dodge doesn’t reveal their plans too far in advance…it takes them far too long to deliver. The mystery behind all of Dodge’s future plans finally makes sense. They will always get beat to the punch so wait until the last minute to reveal them. Not a lean environment at the new Chrysler. Trim more fat.

Sublime, I feel the pain as well. My window of opportunity will not last forever. I too am beginning to rethink whether I really want to continue to wait to purchase a new Dodge Challenger. In this price point 40-50K there are a lot of options to consider.
I’m trying to keep the faith, but here I sit, waiting for a definitive answer on when I can join the 1 of 400 lottery, to buy a FF SRT8. Of course, I still want green, but I’m done waiting. FF works for me, but I want an SRT8, not RT. I know my odds are not good, going up against the so called advance orders and high volume dealers, so maybe its time to hang this effort up and just move on.
Come on RLD, help us out.

IndyRider, this waiting for three plus years has made me start to think if shelling out 40 grand for a car is really worth it. I was going to purchase an 07 Superbee for 42 grand back then and I now look at them retailing (with less than 30,000 miles) for $22-27 grand. The new Challenger is starting to look dated and wanting full sticker price is ridiculous. It needs chrome around the tailights or inside the taillights or something. It just looks too cheap for a car with an SRT sticker price of over 46 grand. And then there is tax, title, license, bull sh__ dealer fees, etc. How about those spy shots of the Charger’s new dash with the spray painted silver around the gauges? Even the simulated woodgrain from the 1971 rallye dashes looked a hundred times better than that. If you have a design team that bad then you just need to copy the old stuff from the muscle car era. We would all buy it, thats for sure. I wish Dodge made a chrome clad version of their SRT wheels. Paying 45 grand for a car with dull aluminum wheels just doesn’t cut it.

I actually like the wheel offerings on the RT better than the SRT. I’m beginning to look at the G5 Challenger option again, as I get a choice on wheels and colors. I would have to scale back to an RT, due to the price increase, but at least I have some input into the car being unique.
RLD has gotten quiet on the color news, maybe they are gearing up for something cool? I hope so, cuz spring is here and I have an empty garage bay in need of a mopar….

I think Dodge is trying to do their best to create cars that nobody wants. God almighty, charging 40 plus grand for a Dodge and then not being able to pick your color is utterly ridiculous. If you have to order a car, why not let the customer pick the color. I saw this video, How a Car is Made and they show a 2004 Mustang being painted and the spray guns tips are cleaned after each car and then another color is painted. What is the big deal of adding another color? They were painting the Mustangs in 12 different colors at the time. I think Dodge wants us to hold onto our money until we finally decide upon purchasing another car. I think Fiat wants them to go under so they can spin them off as a write off. There can be no other reason for this insanity. I want to give them my money and they won’t take it. Insane!

My God, what’s going on with this company?
Guys, you’re being left behind again! Come on! Surely you can give these people the paint
colors they want? Is it that big a deal? Also, Challenger needs to step it up in the horsepower race. Take the 6.1L, slap a SMS supercharger on it, call it Challenger “UNLEASHED”, and give people a few graphics, hoods, whatever, and sell some cars.
Remember the older Ram commercials with the ram pulling the heavy equipment up the hill?
Time to get those commercials back on. Flaunt what you got! Even Try-Yoda is using that now. Need more commercials with Rock and Roll music, and lots of engine sounds.
For God’s sake, get rid of that silver on the interiors! Make it chrome, or paint it another color. You don’t need to put in all that electronic garbage the brand x’s are using, just make it appealing looking. Some people I see driving need less of that electronic “distraction” and more driving “Instruction”. Be innovators like in the past, and set some more standards for the others to copy yet again. When in doubt, or feeling misguided, “Get back to your Roots!”

Amen on the basics. I don’t need nav, I know how to get from point A to point B. Offer up a nine hundred option for a flat black hood instead. Kickers and subwoofer option as well, replace it with billboards down the side, or lettered goodyears.
Horsepower, impact colors, manual tranny. I believe that sums it up. The electronic options go on the family sedan, luxury car, or maybe a tuner model.
And yes, it would be nice to get some updates on the FF offering. Everyone is stating April is the order window timeline. Can you confirm and update the site?
Finally how about really ringing in St Patricks Day with an announcement that green is on the order list for this year. Best pot of gold I can imagine for the leprechaun challenger fans!

All, My Plum Crazy R/T Classic arrived Saturday. Monday the dealer installed my $2000.00 worth of free accessories courtesy of new Mopar Bucks incentive program, and tonite I drove it for the first time. It was GLORIOUS, damn near drove me to tears….I waited for what seemed like an eternity but it was WELL worth the wait, believe me…..Thanks Mother Mopar for doing me proud….I cant believe its really here, and how awesome it really is……for those of you waiting , trust me, it IS worth the wait….to Mark Mallie, thanks for putting in “the fix” for the super track pack….GREAT JOB DODGE !!!! Mopar or No Car !!!!!!

Alas my friends, 1970 is dead and gone. The American auto industry is hanging by a thread. We will never again be able to walk into our local Dodge dealership and be able to order a bare bones muscle car. No more radio delete, dog dish hub cap clad, monster engine machines without power steering or brakes. Just a huge tire shredding engine riding on poly glass tires with a little bit of sheet metal wrapped around it. The days of dizzying numbers of paint options, (for the challenger it was something like 18), and engine options, (probably at least 6), are no longer. It was probably no more than a twist of fate that we even have the new challenger to gripe about. If it hadn’t been for the insight of the Ford motor company and the introduction of the new mustang, there would be no challnger. No challenger, no camero. The big three seemed to be content for the past 30 years to bring us nothing but european/japanese styling. Let’s be honest, the cars of the 60′s and 70′s were basically crap, but the American public gleefully snapped them up by the millions. then came the gas crisis in the 70′s and the japanese invasion with their fuel efficient and reliable cars, and Detroit said ” We need to catch up, Hey, lets build fuel efficient unreliable cars!” (ie pinto, vega.) and the rest is history. Thirty five years of flacid, boring, euro-style crap. It’s no wonder their going down the tubes. (unions and government over-regulation not withstanding). So I guess we’ll just have to accept the fact that we’re probably lucky to even be seeing something that resembles good old american muscle in our present day. 8 color choices and 3 engines are all you’re gonna get fellas. And you’re takin’ the nav system and the power windows whether you want them or not. The days of the “trim package” are here to stay.

Who’d ever thought the “HEMI” would be back? Who’d ever thought a car would have a V8 engine anymore? Is it about the environment or consumer demand? If people don’t want front wheel drive or a 4 cylinder engine, then they got to comply to the demand or shut down.
I think myself lucky to be alive when this new generation of HEMI came around, and astonished it even happend.
I think the cars are too heavily optioned. Let us delete some of those things and maybe afford
to buy something. I don’t need all power this ot that.

Not digging the sunroof at all, yet most of the SRT8s I see on the dealer locators have this option.
Flames T, congratulations on the new arrival, you must be stoked. Hopefully one day I too can report back on a purchase. Until then I wait for FF SRT8s, or dream about green.

It’s bad enough that any colors beyond the black/gray/silver/white selection cost extra. I maintain that it’s absurd that someone can come into a dealership prepared to spend anywhere from 25-45k on a car and be told, “Sorry, the color you want is no longer available–you should have ordered last fall.” Or, “Sorry, that color’s not available on the model you want–you’ll have to order this one that costs $8k more.”
If someone wants an SE in a hi-impact color, by God, they should be able to get one.

I wouldn’t order a car that I couldn’t get the color I wanted, or options. Period.
I wouldn’t be waiting forever either. This is not a special order Viper, or something like that.
It’s a car they advertise for sale, and if they don’t have them to sell, well, it’s their loss.
People are not going to wait forever to give up their hard earned cash. It’s no wonder some potential customers on this blog are fuming!

Yeah, I have to admit I’m hitting the limit of patience again. I want to buy this car, but the only way its going to happen is getting it in a color I want. Sounds absurd to some, but once again, this isn’t a $15K car getting purchased.
I’d buy one in flat black if it was offered. Black wheels, flat black everything. Just mix it up. I’m hustling to try and get the FF SRT8, because I like the offering. Green is still my #1 choice, but its not happening. Only 400 FF SRT8s, so that one probably won’t come through for me either.
I’m back to considering plum crazy as my last option, but as stated its not available, so I have to look for one on the lot without a sunroof. If this doesn’t work out then I’m moving on again to something else outside of the challenger. Hate to state the post, but time is running out on my purchase window.

I here you IndyRider, The Dodge boys are just plain STUPID! Hey, I hate to say that but when they continue to refuse to paint a car the color we want and then inform us that they can’t tell us what they have planned until after it happens then what can you call them? We have asked them over and over to help the loyal die hard mopar customers but they turn their freakin noses up to us and tell us how they are testing overpriced Vipers in Texas. There are rows and rows of Challengers piling up at the dealers because they keep painting them the colors nobody wants. The Plum Crazy ones seem to be selling because that is a color that everyone wanted when they did their pole on this blog. This paying full sticker price and then some for a car with an ugly gray interior that looks cheaper than the one in a 1971 Charger is ridiculous. I thought after bankruptcy they were going to start all over, but they have the same ludicrous marketing strategy that they had before. They are the only car company to lose money month after month. Does no one look at the data or ask the customer what they want at Dodge? No they don’t and they never will because the guys who ran Dodge when they were building muscle cars are all gone. The new crop of kids running the place shouldn’t have been promoted and should all be fired. I want to write them a check for 40 grand and they just continue to taunt us and refuse to tell us if anything new is coming out the door. They continually run “weekly” poles that go on for months. There must only be 10 or fewer people working at Auburn Hills because there is nothing new ever mentioned on this blog. Why do they even host this blog? If I don’t here anything about the release of sublime by next week then I think I am going to buy the ‘cuda my neighbor wants to sell. The more I think about it, the ‘cuda would be the better investment and it is an origin sublime (limelight) car so why not. Why should I reward these guys by giving them my hard earned money when they refuse to listen or even talk to us. All my life the only thing I ever wanted to do was to buy a brand new lime green muscle car from the dealer and now they have shattered that dream. These guys are cruel, have no feelings, and obviously just don’t care. They have the union mentality that as long as they get a pay check at the end of the week then thats all that matters. These guys do not deserve our business. You are right, it is time to move on. This whole scene is depressing and to think funky fuchsia was released before sublime is just too much to take. After looking at the new dash of the next Charger that is coming out, I think the ship is sinking and sinking fast. The only new news we get is that they are going to offer the Fiat 500 in the US. Gee, that is a no brainer…why else would the Italians want a part of Chrysler but to unload their junk. I used to live and breathe Mopar, however, now that it has been taken over by all of these foreign entities, it just isn’t the same. I would never think of saying negative things against Dodge, but it is not Dodge anymore. It is just a company that is being used by other companies who want to try and make a quick profit and then spin them off. It really saddens me deeply to see this going on.

Walter P. Chrysler would roll over in his grave if he seen the state of Chrysler since 2001.
You have to see that these cars, (Challenger,Charger,etc…) are only a sideline to them. The big interest they have is in those little 4 cyl. cars and gone nutz with fuel economy. It’s their main concern right now and they don’t care about anything less. If any automotive exec thinks everyone will be driving electric cars in 10 years time, than they should get their head checked! It’s not going to happen in anyone’s generation anytime soon. People are being brainwashed, and you can’t supress oil dependance overnite. What do you think would happen if everything we drove was electric? People and various interest groups would be out of their minds because we now need 50 more nuclear reactors to keep up with the electricity demand. It’s all a game of passing the buck. Whatever we use in the future will have an impact on the environment. There’s no perfect solution or free energy.
The problem with Chrysler’s little gas sipper plans is that they are 3 years behind already and should have been planning that in 2007! By the time they get these things on the road that cycle will be over and now we are back to V8′s angain ans SUV’s. It’s all a cycle. Any of you older guys/gals reading this blog has seen this repeat time and time again, I am sure.
It’s alright for Chrysler to sell some small cars, but what they really need to be doing is focusing on selling some cars “RIGHT NOW!”
And that means listening to customers, and taking every order that they can get. I am thinking about buying the white and silver Challengers and painting them whatever a customer wants and then reselling them. Just like in the old days when nowbody wanted to buy those Superbirds and Daytonas, so the dealers took off the wings and nosecones. (Who wouldn’t want one of those cars???)
BTW, if those pictures I seen of the new charger interior are correct, then I am glad I got an earlier model. Listen, “GET RID OF THAT STUPID SILVER/GREY trim paint! It’s GD cheap looking!
I am not buying a vehicle until that’s gone! How’s that for a heads up?

I have an 08 SRT8 in Hemi Orange and I love it !
I think it is outstanding value for money and no more than it needs to be.
I want a sublime green if they make one which I think they will.
You can never please everybody especially the people who have no concept of the real world.

The real world means businesses succeed and fail based on solid business plans, innovative marketing, dependable products, and quick time to market. I live in the real world, have real money to spend, and want some real answers. Update the RLD site with current ordering information for the latest offering FF.
Its worth the wait, but at least communicate current status on the offerings….

I picked up my orange r/t yesterday and the salesman said he has been hearing lots of talk about sublime at the end of the year on 2011 models. Hopefully he is right.
