The wait is over! You can finally get a 2010 Challenger in the long sought-after Plum Crazy—dealers are taking orders today. The deep purple shade is back for the 2010 SRT and R/T Classic packages with the standard-black OR all-new-white dual wide side stripes.
To take that classic heritage styling to eleven, talk your dealer into a set of Katzkin leather seats, available in multiple color/piping/stitching combos to fit your particular mojo. Let the head-turning begin. For more on the 2010 Challenger, get info here.

Too bad the high impact colors are not available in the SE option.
Too bad a convertible will not be built.
Too bad that the production numbers are so low that dealers can mark them up well beyond the MSRP.
Too bad that one has to pay a small fortune to an outside Vendor, in addition to the marked-up car, to really get what you want.
(MR Norms, NCE, Coach LTD etc.)
Hopefully, the new leadership in Dodge will listen to their customers and be more responsive. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll get it right.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think any yellows have been built yet. They appeared to have pushed the plum ahead. They just this week closed the orders for B5.

Keep the production numbers low, that will keep the value high for years to come. When they flood the market with too many cars sure you can buy them cheaper but 3 years down the road they are worth 5 grand. I rather spend my money and pay list if the car holds it value. Limit production, that is the key with any car to hold its value. If someone wants a car that is a dime a dozen buy a Camaro.

Went to area Dodge dealer to formally request Sublime. Left my contact information, and looked at the 3 SRT8s on the lot, Orange, B5, and Torred. Sorry, but they don’t do it for me, its gotta be green.
Note to Dodge: Adding a 5k market value BS markup to the cars is NOT good business in this economy. Maybe this is a local dealer thing, so you might want to think about it, during your regional sales seminars.
I don’t know how this plays out, when folks order one direct, so I’m hoping this isn’t a show stopper for me, when/if Dodge offers green.
I’m not paying extra dollars for the car, due to a perceived demand. For what its worth, the orange SRT has been on the lot for months, must be the sunroof option or???
If I want to buy something to just look at, I’ll consider a supermodel, or vintage muscle car, not a 2010 auto.

The cars are piling up at the dealers because they won’t make them the colors the customers want…SUBLIME. In addition, they place flat black stripes on a black car. What are we thinking? It looks like you made a mistake. Stripes are cheap. Mix them up and offer red stripes, white stripes, and gray stripes on a black car. Put some fake wood grain around the gauges and the shifter to make it look like an expensive car. My 1971 road runner has a better looking interior. By the way, the interior needs to be black, not dark gray. Black is more distinctive for a sports car.

What does RLD mean? A “Real Listening Disfunction.” Come on and think outside the box. Offer all your cars in different colors with different stripe packages so they are more unique. People want cars that are different so don’t limit all the options. This is why the cars of the 60s and 70s are worth so much. It was very difficult to find two cars with the same options, stripe packages, colors, etc. Look at all the different colors that were offered in 1970 and 1971. What ever happened to flexible manufacturing?

There seems to be a lot of crying out there, relax, just be happy Dodge is building one of the slickest affordable cars to come out in 30 plus years. Who cares what colors a 6 cyl comes in , buy a Hemi. I ordered a Yellow classic and wanted to get the push button start without the whole package, dodge said they will not do it, so what, it will still be one bad ass car and I will add the start myself later,that is what muscle cars are about, doing some changes yourself, working on it. It does not matter what color you get, it is still better than driving a Camaro or Mustang.

That is just it, do we have to wait another 35 years to get the right color? I have restored over 20 muscle cars and have had to repaint them to a decent color, I was hoping it could be made right the first time. Pulling the motor to paint the engine compartment, painting the door jambs, trunk. If you are going to pay $10,000 more than the nearest competitor, then why can’t you get the right color?

1.)The Challenger is not that affordable compared to its competition
2.)I cannot afford the hemi
3.)Adding pushbutton start costs slightly less than a $5,000+ paintjob.
4.) As far as any color Challenger being better than a Mustang or Camaro, marketshare says otherwise.
People are “crying” because Chrysler, through this blog, has asked for our ideas and feedback.
Since this blog started I’ve seen people asking for the high impact colors to be more widely available, and we’re now into the car’s 3rd model year and it’s still not happening. In fact, color options have been reduced unless you want to pay for special packages. Meanwhile, the Challenger is being outsold by the Mustang and Camaro.
It’s great that these colors are out there at all, and that they’re doing special editions, but what about the options for the majority of buyers? Also, the order windows for these high impact colors are a bit of a joke. Dodge.com is usually hopelessly out of date, and I was surprised to learn that it’s already too late to order detonator yellow! Take a look at the build it now section, it’s still got B5 blue listed, and no plum crazy.

Special colors should be order only. Or perhaps order only and allow the dealerships one or two a year. Orders should be built and delivered with all due haste. Dodge, do you know how much we consider walking away from an order? There are temptations out there. Do you think some do? I know the dealer is your customer, not us buyer/owners… but that is old pre-internet, pre-empowered-purchaser thinking. Shouldn’t you at least favor your repeat buyers?

chrysler should just throw in the towel. the dodge website is out of date, none of the dealers have brochures, cancelling colors before you can even get them. i have been waiting and saving to buy a new one and order it just how i wanted it, but you can’t get this with that you can’t get this unless its an srt8. take your new car and shove it, i will just buy another vintage car. you guys really screwed up a golden opportunity

Others say we shouldn’t complain on this blog and say that we should just be happy that Dodge makes a car that we would actually want to buy. Do they not understand what they just said. We should be happy that Dodge makes a car the customer wants to buy. Have we lived with this crap for so long that we take it for granted that Dodge does not build what the customer wants. This is insane. Offer all the high impact colors before it is all over. NOW!

Plum Crazy! Awesome!! Great move as Plum Crazy is the number one favorite hands-down. In poll after poll, Plum Crazy is the top choice.
This Blog is great for members to provide RLD with feedback and I too would love to see more high-impact colors offered. But, it is my belief that if you announced tomorrow that sublime was the newest high-impact color you would have the same clowns complaining that the car did not have the correct stripe color or interior color and on and on. There is nothing you can do as a company that will please these folks. I work in sales and I encounter customers, on occasion, that will never be satisfied no matter what. You could offer them 100 options and they want 105 options.
Why hammer on the Dodge with negative threats and feedback. My first choice of color is sublime but DY and PC are great colors that I can certainly live with. I can understand the frustration that many have with Dodge as I have many since I have been trying to order a custom Challenger for two years. If you don’t like what you see, go buy a Mustang or Camaro and enjoy the nice colors…

I see Curtis has been corrupted by the idea that a car company should not offer the colors that the customer wants. Very sad that even Curtis has thrown in the towel. We are very happy with the stripe packages, etc. all we are saying is that you can paint the cars the color we want. All I see is black Challengers at the dealers with black stripes. What is the point in putting stripes on them if you can’t see them. Come on Curtis, you know our frustration. We have been loyal Dodge customers and now you tell us to buy a Camaro or Mustang because even you know that Dodge will not offer sublime. Very, very, sad. Too bad Fiat doesn’t read these blogs and see why nobody buys Dodge anymore.

I agree that dodge should take what the people want into GREAT consideration. And we want the option to customize our cars. The dealer markups are a joke. In Las Vegas they have the audacity to charge $54,000 for the R/T model Chally, and we cant even choose exactly what we want.
I do, however, agree with Dodge’s decision to reserve the high impact colors to the Hemi. You need that V8 power to back up your car’s looks. As far as the V6 goes; you get what you pay for.

4 Days after my original post I definately feel the need to set the record straight. I picked up my B5 SRT today and after all things considered through the ordering process, any wait was well worth it. What a Car! Do yourself right and get one regardless of color! I want to put a shot out to the Challenger Manager Mr. Mark Mallie. He is definately a professional and the right person for the job. Thank You! I also want to put a shout out to the Schaefer & Strohminger dealership with special attention to my salesman Mr. Jim Dinges. Jim made my purchase truly personal and dealing with him was as great as the Challenger itself. I hope there is some way Dodge can recognizes their people like Mr. Dinges. I can provide amplification if needed. Thanks again Dodge, Mr. Mallie, S&S, and Mr. Dinges. Job Well Done!!!

In my previous post I might not have been as articulate as I should have been. I share many of the same frustrations as many of you. Placing a custom order for a Challenger and having it built and shipped is like hitting the lottery. There are many things that the company can improve upon and we all have a right to voice our concerns and requests.
When Dodge is excited and announces that Plum Crazy is available for ordering I would like to see more people share in the excitement and provide the company with support and a thank you. What good does it do to keep blasting the company with negative comments and threats? We have beat the issue of high impact colors into the ground and I am sure the company is aware of the need to offer more color choices.
In looking at Chrysler emerging from bankruptcy it is apparent that there are many areas for improvement and over time the hard working employees will turn things around. I am certain if Dodge could offer all the high impact colors at one time they would. Personally, I would like to see Sublime and Pink Panther offered in 2010 but I have been satisfied with some of the great impact colors that have already been offered; Hemi-Orange, B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow and Plum Crazy. Pretty impressive.
You guys need to chill out and relax; you’ll get your Sublime…..

Well Curtis. If we knew for sure we were going to get Sublime it would be much appreciated. I’m never going to dis Chrysler and their grest cars and trucks. Things aren’t easy right now and I know their doing what they can. I think the only thing most of us want to do is to be able to actually buy the Challenger in the color “WE WANT” when it’s available with out all the dealer nonsence. If your not waiting for one of the unanounced heritage colors then there’s a lot of Challengers out there to pick from. Speaking for myself, I want to order one right now but that will be depending on two things. When the color is available and how is my local Dodge dealer going to handle my order. Were paying big money for the SRT Challenger. At lot more than the competition. But for me I’m will never jump ship and buy a brand X. If the two above items can’t be met, then I’ll probably end up with nothing. I just can’t conceive of buying a brand new Challenger, ripping it apart and painting it the color I want. I think they grossly underestimate how important color choice is to us Mopar fans. To all out there that have their Challenger in the color they want, my hat’s off to you.

To Curtis, Dodge, and anyone reading my posts, my intention is definitely not negative, just trying to be realistic in today’s world.
The SRT and even the RT to an extent is a nice to have purchase, not a requirement for going to work each day. I don’t currently own a Dodge, but if I buy one, the Challenger is the only way to go. With that being said, I want one in green.
I originally priced a green one through G5 (aftermarket), and its too much money. Once again, this is a cool to have purchase, not a must have. I’d rather give the money to Dodge, and get a green one fresh from the factory, not third party.
I truly hope Dodge reads the feedback, and realizes how much of a “button” the retro colors push. I gave up years ago, on the reality of having a panther pink or sublime cuda or challenger, even in non matching numbers form.
This is the closest I’ll ever come to having one, so I’ll continue to chime for the sublime!
My local dodge dealer did have 2009 brochures, so now I’m drooling over the last page, with the go wing spoiler from mopar. Flat black on a sublime green.
And I’m down with the plum and yellow, but I’m holding out. Everytime I see a strange number on the cell, I wonder “is this the call”? Hopefully the call will be a go, not a no.
If it doesn’t happen, I just saved a lot of geckos on my car insurance. Green ones at that!

We are not trying to be negative, because we are loyal Mopar fans. We just want our voices to be heard because we represent what a lot of people are thinking. If you don’t listen to the customers, then you won’t be around to make any more vehicles. RLD needs to address our concerns and become more involved with this blog. They need to make decisions and inform us months ahead of time so we can be prepared to get our finances together. Colors shouldn’t be limited because if you can’t afford a car until next year, then you lose your chance to purchase your favorite color car for another 35 years. This policy about colors is insane and it needs to change. So does the six month wait or more to order a car. Change your policies and sell cars already!

Those who don’t know me – I’m Head of Product Marketing for the Dodge Charger and Challenger.
OK – all of those digging on the colors we have in or don’t have in the plan rest assured we are listening. I read this blog everyday . . . but rarely find time in the day to comment. Those waiting for a specific color, it will arrive (have patience) as there are only so many to pick from and you know what is in our arsenal. Keep in mind there are competitive reasons for “radio silence”.
We are pushing hard to provide as much content as possible for the Challenger owners/lovers. But imagine the difficulty in trying to get-er done! We will keep on the Engineering & Manufacturing Team, but give us all credit for what’s been accomplished for 2010MY, B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow, Plum Crazy, the potential return of HEMI Orange (more details to come) and TBD. Five colors this year plus new stripe colors and more…
We are trying to cook up more for the SE beyond the Rallye, but things are a bit hectic at Dodge these days as you can imagine.
