Dodge Colors Brighten The New York Times |

Dodge is punching up the Challenger’s colors with the return of colors like HEMI Orange and, as we reported on October 15th, Plum Crazy. Last week, Ray Wert of Jalopnik brightened The New York Times’ Automobiles section with a story about the new vibrant trend in auto colors generally. Plum Crazy and the Viper’s Snakeskin Green lead off the colorful “Punchy Paint Jobs” slideshow; you can see them in all their glory here.

Ordered the Plum Crazy SRT this week. Looking forward to receiving it. Clearlake Dodge in Houston allowed me a great test drive that hooked me. Never owned a Dodge product before. Presently driving a very enjoyable BMW but giving it up. Mopars were my teenage dream cars many years ago. Glad it can now be realized.

Mark Mallie: I am driving a BMW X3 SAV that I have really enjoyed the last three years. It has great features and handling and if the Challenger had not come out I would most likely have gotten another BMW. As a teenager in Southern California I drove a 67 Pontiac Firebird but I always admired the guys in the Mopars. With prices the way they went over the years on those cars I never felt I would be able to purchase one of those legendary automobiles. To my surprise, Dodge announced the new Challenger SRT a few years ago with the 6.1 Hemi and it got my attention. The Plum Crazy option was just the icing on the cake. After driving the SRT the other day here in my new home state of Texas, I just had to have it. Especially, since we produce our own gasoline and its cheaper than anywhere else. Can’t wait to listen to my old Led Zeppelin tunes. I’m shopping for a new black leather car coat to go with it.

Will we ever see a yellow Challenger? How long does it take…will no one deliver parts to Dodge unless they pay them in advance now? I guess we will have to wait another 35 years. Does this mean the Plum Crazy’s will come out in the summer and sublime will be a 2011 model with a black updated interior with some chrome accents and a T/A or shaker hood?
