Is it the all-aluminum Gen III 426ci crate engine pulling out 556 horsepower and 540 lb-ft torque? Is it the upgraded body with a carbon-fiber hood, front spoiler, and headlight surround? Or is it the Mickey Thompson street-legal drag radials on all four corners? We can see why the folks at Autoblog are all revved up about the Dodge Challenger 1320 they saw at SEMA today.

That hood is bad asssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. You can now offer a 426 HEMI SRT Challenger. Colors is never the issue when you have all these great ideas. Keep offering these specialty cars each year and they will sell.

I love the car, however, dull aluminum or rallye wheels would be a nice touch. Fatter tires in the back like the old T/A Challengers. I like the 340 Duster, 426 accent on the hood. Why don’t you make butterflies that open up in the hood scoop everytime you hit the throttle. That would pretty wild for a factory car. Does this mean the next SRT Challenger will have a 426 Hemi aluminum block in it next year? Yes, you can do it.

Thanks for the input, here are answers to some of your questions: Active Hood: We think an active hood would be great as well! Did you know the SRT Challenger and Challenger Classic have a vented hood for ambient underhood cooling? Decal: We are all over the hood decal…we just need an application plan… stay tuned. 426 Aluminum block HEMI: We agree and are looking at a number of items in this arena with MOPAR both factory and strip – we’ll need to see what sticks. Wider Tires: The SRT 3 season tires give you a 10mm wider rear tire. Detonator Yellow: we are getting close, with the great interest in the B5 Blue we are just finishing and getting ready to launch Yellow.
Our turn with a question: What is your current ride – please tell us a Challenger or another suitable MOPAR.

Thanks for the feedback. Mopar has the strongest heritage of wild and crazy color and perfomance schemes. That is what has always drawn me to their cars. I currently have a 70 superbird and a 71 road runner in the garage. Both are 440 six pack cars with 509 purple shaft cams. I have tried every type of performance part on those cars, however, I have noticed that Mopar performance parts work the best. You look at the Mopar Performance catalog and find out what quarter mile time you want to dial in, buy the parts and it works perfectly. I have purchased Crane, Edlebrock, Cam Dynamics, etc. and I end up making the cars slower. Mopar parts is the only way to go. My 04 quad cab 1500 HEMI Ram and my wife’s 02 Voyager reside in the driveway. The V6 van has been the eaiest car to repair that I have ever worked on. I have never taken the Ram to the dealer for repairs. It is bright red and it still looks brand new. The 20″ chrome clad wheels are by far one of the best wheels you ever designed. I get compliments on them to this day. When I was growing up I would read Motor Trend and Hot Rod magazines and there was a Good Year advertisement showing off their Polyglas raised white letter tires with a sublime Hemi ‘cuda. To this day I have always wanted to purchase a brand new sublime pony car from the factory and have been disappointed that Dodge wouldn’t do it. My 7year/70,000 mile warranty is running out on my truck and I would love to have a brand new sublime Challenger R/T classic or even a limited edition T/A with the new hood you have or the 426 edition. At any rate, I know you have the capability to do wild things to get peoples blood pumping again so they want to buy cars for their looks rather than just as a means of transportation. So hopefully, the Fiat guys will let you do you what you do best by offering some wild and crazy limited edition performance cars that middle aged men and women can spend their hard earned money on. I would buy a car every couple of years if cool cars were offered. However, it is the same old boring stuff that is just built for utility and not for excitement. The hood you have posted is awesome and people will buy it. I was at the dealer yesterday looking at a Challenger and this guy comes up to me who was in his mid 50s and said that he would buy one today if it came in lime green. He starts telling me that when they go across the stage on Barrett Jackson they always fetch at least $100,000 or more for them. It is a classic Mopar color that should be offered on their top of the line performance cars. We had three sublime green 2007 Chargers on our lot and they were sold in less than a week. It is not a color for everybody, but if you want to be noticed then this is the only way to do it. The Plum Crazy offering is nice, however, the color doesn’t pop like sublime. Surprise us and make a mid year T/A Challenger in sublime with a flat black aftermarket Mopar hood, flat black duck tail spoiler (currently used on the SRT) and offer it with the more fuel efficient 5.7 Hemi. Lime green accents on the leather upholstery would be nice as well. The stripes down the side of the Challenger break up the enormity of the height of the car. It looks too short and stubby, that is why I haven’t purchased an SRT. At any rate, I am glad you guys are reading these blogs and the best of luck to you in the future. CMC sums up what I’ve been posting on RLD for months, in requesting sublime on the challenger. I don’t currently own a Dodge product, but I’m truly hoping a sublime green challenger will be my first one. I don’t have any muscle cars in the garage, but I do have some empty space available for one. A green challenger is the only option for me.
The SEMA offering is way cool, but my first reaction was, it would look better in green! There is something about the green, along with a flat black accent, that is a great combination.
Still sitting on the fence, so I hope you pull the trigger on the green!

We have been managing paint on Challenger adding as many colors as the plant can handle. For 2010 Model Year in addition to the 10 standard paints at the plant and any special paints for Charger Police Cars, we have built B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow, Plum Crazy is just beginning, Hemi Orange is coming back in 1st Quarter 2010, and one more new color to be announced soon. This color is not Sublime. Green is in our future, we are hoping to do something in the 2010 Calendar Year.

Is that a red 1971 road runner in the background? I have a green one and I always thought that the aerodynamics for that car was way ahead of its time. The puffed out wheel wells make a car look tough instead of the flat sides of the current Charger. Change the taillights of the current Charger to duplicate a 69 or 70 Charger and it would look ten times better.

Hey Mark,
Do you have any idea why they are waiting so long for the sublime paint and if it will be offered in 2010? I may be willing to wait one more year, however, if you just aren’t going to offer it please let us know. Are you going to reward us for our patience with a sublime Challenger that will have a better interior that is offered in black? Can you give us some kind of hint?
