If you’re planning on heading to this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit (open to the public January 16 – 24), you’ll be treated to an assault of refined and revamped Dodges. High on the list is the 2010 Dodge Journey — not only does it boast a number of new features, but for budget-conscious families around the country, its best-in-class price makes it a must-see. Dodge has eliminated the old concept of “base model,” offering two new packages called “Hero” and “Heat” that beef up the driving experience while also knocking hundreds of dollars off the price tag. Standard features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, sunscreen glass, body-color mirrors, floor mats and more. You need to do the same thing with the Challenger. These $2,500 market adjustment costs tagged onto the full sticker price for these Mopar optioned Challengers is the biggest rip off that I have ever seen. Don’t consumers have any pride? To allow a dealership to rip you off is down right stupid. Refuse to buy these over priced cars. Let them sit on the lots until these dealers treat us fairly. Toyota and Honda dealerships never participate in these practices. These policies have caused people to purchase foreign products and have caused this “depression” that we are currently going through in this country because people don’t buy American products. I think Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Fiat need to police these dealerships and not allow them to do this. How can Chrysler ever make a comeback when customers think they are ripping them off? This is the number one reason why people buy Japanese/Korean cars. They feel safe from greedy sales people. Don’t make the same mistake again and run off all of your customers. This practice sickens me and if I wasn’t such a die hard mopar fan, I would have turned to another car manufacturer a long time ago. Please police your dealerships and not renew their licenses to sell cars.

Love that journey. I am not due for a new vehicle until 2011, and I want to wait for that
pentastar V6. Torn between the Grand Caravan and the Journey. However I really need seating for eight! Can you give me seating for three in the second and third rows? Have the seat on either end of the second row a pull-ahead. That would do it. Or a split 60/40 sliding bench in the second row. Offer it as an option so I can order one in 2011. Thanks.

T/A, I agree with you about the “market adjustments” that are often tacked on to the price of a high demand car like the Challenger. I’ve seen this practice done on the early minivans and when the PT Cruiser first came out too. In both cases, as will happen in this case too, customers who pay above sticker for these vehicles will eventually become furious about having a two year old car that is worth much less than what they owe on it. This will cause hard feelings toward the dealership that sold them the car and they will lose a customer forever. I don’t know why these dealerships keep doing this. I guess the extra short-term profit blinds them to the future consequences. I don’t agree with you in one sense however. Toyota and Honda dealerships may not use these tactics (personally, I don’t know) but since pricing is up to the dealer and not the manufacturer, it’s not Toyota and Honda that gets the credit unless maybe they have some kind of restriction on the practice in their franchise agreement. But Toyota and Honda rarely ever offer any incentives such as rebates, cheap financing, etc. also, like the domestics do. Personally, I think the reason that Toyota or Honda dealerships don’t use the “market adjustments” tactics is because they never produce any products that generate the kind of excitement that the Challenger does.

Whomever is revamping your webpage, I like it. It is pretty cool that you see the Challenger in a realistic picture and the commercial for the Charger.com is great. Revamp the whole website and you will get everyone exciting about your vehicles!

I have to agree with you in that Toyota and Honda don’t really create any excitement with their cars. I believe the reason their cars last a long time is because the people who buy them are the people who like to play it safe, go the speed limit, never take any chances and any car will last forever if it is never abused. Dodge builds excitement, “Ram tough” and with car names like Challenger, Charger, Nitro…it is amazing that any of their cars even last the warranty. Japanese cars aren’t any better, they just appeal to a different type of person. It is too bad that their is no loyalty in this country.

“DODGE” creates excitement on many levels. They always have the best looking cars hands down. As a kid, the car names, engine names, and advertising on Chrysler products always drove me crazy. I couldn’t get enough of it. Even now, I have the wife and kids trained to spot them when we go out anywhere. Somebody’s always tapping me on the shoulder and pointing.
RLD, love the http://www.chargerexperience.com website. However, like to see more specs and probably downloadable ownerns manuals and brochures. Also, not everyone can afford the SRT8 model, so, please include pictures, etc… on the R/T, SXT, and SE models as well, and Hemi 5.7 info/specs also. Throw in some videos and lots of sound effects and you’ve got it!
