Wild Colors Live On… Introducing Furious Fuchsia! |
Posted on February 11, 2010
Debuting at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, Dodge celebrates the memory of one of the wildest OEM paint codes in history and the 40th birthday of the fearsome Challenger with the addition of “Furious Fuchsia” to the ordering sheet. Significantly darker (though no less ostentatious) than the original hue, Furious Fuchsia calls upon the rich – if not short-lived – legacy of Panther Pink combined with innovations in paint technology to create its own unique place in the Challenger’s history books. Furious Fuchsia further distinguishes itself from the older, brighter tone with its limited availability, as it will be offered exclusively on Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and only 400 Challenger SRT8 models.
In addition to the fierce exterior presence, each Furious Fuchsia model will also feature complimenting interior accents including Pearl White performance seats with Furious Fuchsia accented stripe and, in SRT8 models, an exclusive dash-mounted plated distinguishing the vehicle as only one of 400. Despite the extensive aesthetic overhaul, powertrains for both models will remain unchanged and as such, the R/T Classic will continue to boast a 376 horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine while the SRT8 will sport its fabled 425-horsepower 6.1-liter HEMI V-8. Pricing for the sharp new models will be $35,140 and $45,150, respectively, and as mentioned above, both editions will be available for order at dealerships across the U.S. in March.

Guys don’t forget this is your hard earned money you are spending! Don’t think for a second on spending it with a dead beat dealer! Spend it with a dealer who values the sale and will give you reasonable service in return. It’s crazy to be driving around the country trying to find a decent dealer to spend your money with. Dodge should already have done this for you. You should get 5 star service when you go to any dealer.
Maybe they should have “secret shoppers” to investigate those incompetent dealers, and either force them to change their tune, or pull their franchise. Sound harsh? How about losing a $40k plus sale? And probably more than one!
What moron would hide Challengers in the back?
Apr 02, 2010 @ 19:34:34
Hemihead, you are correct, buyers do your reseach, find out who sucks and who doesn’t. The internet is a great thing, as we all know by now. Anyway I was looking around on cars.com and if you use the advanced search and type in only one color at a time you’ll find that there are 490 Plum Crazy Challengers 402 Detonator Yellow Challengers and 726 Blue Challengers for sale from California to the East coast. You’ll use your own zip code and sort by nearest to farthest, the cars are out there it just takes some time to find them. This is something your local dealer should be doing on your behalf instead of some guy in CA. Maybe I should start my own car finding business finding Challengers that Dodge can’t or wont. HaHaHa. Well it’s always fun to talk about what Dodge or the dealers should be doing but I don’t think it well help. Later Tracy

Hello RLD, just looked over the MSRP’s for the Challengers and what I think needs to happen is drop all the MSRP’s down some as this would allow buyers to then spend the money saved on options. You know, why does a car have an MSRP of $34,915.00 as opposed to $33,000.00 or even $ 33,500.00. These numbers are a little easier to buy into with a few more options added you would make up the differance in no time. And like a mentioned a few days ago if you put down $1000.00 you get $2000.00 off MSRP, well I’d like to take that idea a little farther. Here’s my plan, $1500.00 down buy’s $2500.00 off $2000.00 gets you $3000.00 off $2500.00 gets you $3500.00 $3000.00 gets $4000.00 $3500.00 gets $ 4500.00 and finally $4000.00 gets you $5000.00 off. All of this money is in your bank making interest. It goes like this if 1000 people put down $4000.00 thats $4 Millions dollars thats drawing interest and bringing the company even more money. The money off the MSRP comes at the time the buyer plunks down his/her money so they don’t have to worry that at time of delievery there is not a mix up in how much the car will cost. Pretty simple huh. If you throw in the money buying options then the Company is still going to make a HUGE PROFIT. Well think about it as this would work really well. In fact the company should always think of the customer first, because without them there is NO Company. Tracy

Happy Easter to all. Hope everyone has a great day. Well Dodge I have another idea, how about a Richard Petty Edition Challenger. Easy to do make them only avaliable to the people who order it but annouce an order date period of May1-June30. This Champion and his family came back to Dodge in order to bring it back to racing, and this would be a cool way to do a car in his honor. Idea number two is to have a raffle on the 43rd car built, if you keep the price of the tickets cheap like $3.00 ea or maybe 20 for $20.00. I’d buy $20.00 every month until it ended. Give the car away on Christmas day. The money collected could be given to the Victory Juntion Gang, how about it guys would you plunk down $20.00 for a chance to win a Richard Petty Edition Challenger.

Hello just remembered that next weekend at the Del Mar Fair Grounds out here in California the Good Guys car show is happening. Dates are 9-11 April. Lots of bitchin cars and great whether.
Apr 05, 2010 @ 21:26:10
Calling Tracy and Sublime,
I’m officially one and done. No more rants related to green and fuchsia (at least this week). Sorry but I gotta move on to other things. Why you may be wondering? Its all because Plan B was successfully implemented this weekend, due in part to Tracy’s assistance. Its a long story, which I will tell in detail at a future date.
I now have a PC SRT8, 6 speed tranny, and NO SUNROOF! During the 3+ hour drive home, I was feeling like Kowalski (spelling?) in Vanishing Point. I didn’t want to stop driving. When I got home, I didn’t want to leave the garage.
I have some minor nits I plan to have checked out by the local dealer this week, but I have to say Dodge has created one hell of a car.
Mark Mallie, hit me up! I have a list of folks (including you) who deserve recognition in making a lot of unrelated events lead to me now owning this car.

Yes, the Dodge Challenger is the best car you will ever drive. It just feels right. Everyday people compliment me on my car and I can’t wait to go to work and then drive home. I even find excuses to eat out for lunch. Congrats, IndyRider…I know you will love it and so will everyone else!
Apr 07, 2010 @ 13:50:02
IndyRider
Congrats on your purchase! And to Tracy too for helping make it happen.
I’m glad it all worked out for you, keep us up to speed on your PCP ride here on RLD.
I’ll drop you a line in a few days for more details.
Apr 07, 2010 @ 21:21:53
Mark,
Thanks man, you were the catalyst that kept my interest, and folks need to know that you, several additional Dodge employees, and non employees (Tracy – Dodge, hire this man), helped make it happen.
I’m documenting the story, so I look to hear from you when you get a chance. I want to make sure the upper level Dodge execs know that good things are happening out there by some great people within the company. In addition, the Dodge user community is truly contributing to making Dodge a better company, so let’s keep this train rolling!
Apr 07, 2010 @ 23:10:49
Hey Indy thanks for the plug. Enjoy that car.
Apr 08, 2010 @ 12:06:13
Indy Rider, Glad to hear you got a Plum Crazy Challenger they are just awesome…..800 miles on mine now, and just cant wait to get in it everyday (sunny day!)….FYI , Mark Mallie is an upper level Dodge Exec !!!!!!! You were being helped by THE man…….just thought you would like to know that!!!!!
Apr 08, 2010 @ 21:25:31
Man I want my comments going to Ralph or higher!
Apr 11, 2010 @ 23:27:00
Hi Mark Mallie, I’ve been looking at alot of the blogs here and it seems to me that you are one of the only guys to give some feed back. Is it because there are just too many questions being asked, or is there no one to answer them on a full time basis? Some of the guys have asked some very good questions but get no responce, me included. I firmly believe that if there has been a good question asked it should be answered. Common courtsey.
Apr 11, 2010 @ 23:29:07
Hey Indyrider hows your way new cool car. Do you need a new set of rear tires? Hope all is well Tracy
Apr 13, 2010 @ 03:29:48
I love this car!
I made a sweet Furious Fuchsia Challenger wallpaper (widescreen) if anyone wants to use it: http://tinypic.com/r/11llidu/5
Peace!

After going with plan B and purchasing a PC SRT8, I have to say I am a very happy customer. To anyone reading these posts who is still on the fence regarding a purchase, or to anyone questioning Dodge’s commitment to staying in the game, keep on reading.
I’m providing a condensed version of events that led me to my purchase. I’ll save the long version for a blog on facebook. I was dead set on green as the only color choice and when Dodge commented late last year that green was not in the immediate cards I was very bummed. Find my posts from the December timeframe. File them under unhappy potential customer, ready to move on….
Needless to say, Mark Mallie personally contacted me in December to address my comments and concerns. Step back and think how many high level executives do this for the average joe like me. While we didn’t agree on every talking point, I was very impressed with Mark, and Dodge. I briefly considered fuchsia, but due to my window of time for purchase I moved to plan B.
Due in part to assistance from readers on this site, as well as some cool dealers I have the dream sitting in the garage as we speak. And what a fine dream it is! A 2010 PC SRT8 6 speed, you know the drill.
I purchased my first Dodge automobile due to Mark, and the contribution of the following folks. While each of them helped contribute in finding me a car, none of them would have been involved without Mark’s contact to me. I wrote off Dodge in December; Mark convinced me to reconsider.
In no particular order, the following folks made it happen.
Al at Dodge in Watsonville
Paul, Allen, Steve, and Jim at Dodge in Visalia
Heather – works for Mark at the track demos such as LVMS
Tracy – non Dodge employee but high on my list since he helped in finding cars in CA. Mark, hire this man!
Bob Frederick, THE man from back East. No idea how you tracked me down….
In closing, Dodge personnel monitor these posts, and respond when they get time. Sometimes, they go above and beyond the normal. Never assume they do not read or care.
To Mark Mallie, and Dodge, you rock, and I am proud to be a Dodge Challenger owner. Let me know when the casting call goes out for owner testimony in a commercial.

Tracy,
I am currently putting my Mopar bucks order together. Its like Christmas man!
I’m trying to go easy on the tires, but damn this car is fun!
Apr 13, 2010 @ 21:55:08
Hey Indy, glad to see you are enjoying your car. My wife still tells me how nice it was for me to do that for you. It was fun and I’m hoping your Christmas is just as fun. As for being hired by Dodge I have created a job that I’m calling Undercover Director West Coast Region. I could take care of Undercover work here in California, Oregan, Washington, Nevada, and Arizona. Reporting back to Dodge on my findings good or bad, and I could also interveiw current customers on their Dodge experiance. This would be a great way of finding out what is going on out here with the dealers and customers. I’m ready to start at any time. Anyway Indy enjoy your Challenger, talk to you again. Tracy
Apr 15, 2010 @ 11:51:17
I hate to keep bringing this up everywhere, but they really need to make the hi-impact colors available for longer periods and on all three trim levels. I’ve got a friend whose wife wants a Plum Crazy Challenger and he’s ready to buy one–but, unfortunately, an R/T or SRT8 ain’t happening on their budget. N/A on an SE and no longer available for order at all means no sale in their case.
(The salesperson he spoke to apparently was unaware that the PC window was closed and that it hadn’t been available on an SE).
Apr 15, 2010 @ 22:18:54
Hello 68SportFury, you are correct on all counts. Another poster wants the same thing but is also out of luck. I would advise buying a Black Challenger and having it painted the Plum Crazy that your friend wants. Check out my comments on the 2010 New York Autoshow posts here at Red Letter Dodge. This is about the only way it well happen I’m afraid, but your friends could add a bunch of options and still not be paying a R/T price but still have what they want. Best of luck. Tracy
Apr 16, 2010 @ 11:39:57
That’s a good point, Tracy, and it’s what was done on the pink modern T/A featured in the April 2010 “Mopar Enthusiast.” The downside is that a good paint job costs considerably more than the $225 premium for the bright colors from the factory. Even the limited-run colors, by themselves, are priced at that amount on the window sticker. Buying a black SE for $23k-ish and then having it repainted PC or FF or DY or B5B by a good shop is going to add a few grand to your total investment.
Apr 16, 2010 @ 14:05:55
Mr. Maillie, will these wheels be available for purchase? The would look fabulous on my DY. Dodge or die.
Apr 16, 2010 @ 18:19:14
68SportFury, yes a great paint job would add $2-$3K and thats the down side, but until Dodge starts offering all colors for all models thats about the only way to have what you want for a lower price. If Dodge wants to build cars with limited color avaliabilty then so be it but offer them on all cars, not just the R/T and SRT8. Tracy
Apr 16, 2010 @ 18:40:17
68SportFury, I checked out Mopar Enthusiast out on line and that Challenger looks bitchin. They did a great job on the car.
Apr 17, 2010 @ 02:21:40
Hello RLD, do you have a date for the Furious Fuchsia ordering yet. I’m real sure that your buyers are getting tired of not hearing anything. It wouldn’t suprise me if buyers who wanted a Challenger and have been waiting end up going out and buying a Mustang or worse a Camaro (BARF). When I served in the ARMY I no one was around to lead you made a command decision and got on with the mission. Now if you need someone to make a decision I’ll do it for you. Lets crank up prodution on FF Challengers and get the ball rolling on the Sublime ones too. Tracy
Apr 18, 2010 @ 00:21:33
Hey Tracy, we went round and round with RLD for months, years, etc. They are never going to answer your questions and when they do they are either vague or they are wrong. Their total refusal to listen to the customer led to their bankruptcy and it will again. If you look at this article, even all of the analysts think that the Chrysler and Dodge lines will be dropped in lieu of RAM, Jeep and of course Fiat products.
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/16/report-analyst-claims-chrysler-may-not-be-able-to-survive-in-cu/
Anytime a foreign entity takes control of an American company they will pretend to improve it, however, their goal is to include as many of their products or components in the vehicles and then just drop them for their own vehicles. Hopefully, I am wrong with this prediction, however, seeing that there aren’t any articles of worth being posted on this blog, I believe the end is near. Watching how this blog has been going down hill over the past few months led me to the decision of purchasing the Plum Crazy Challenger. Something is up (and it is not good) or we would have heard a lot more about product development by now. Again, hopefully I am wrong and it would be nice if they proved me wrong. However, they can’t even deliver on a new color (Furious Fuchsia), so that tells you something.
Apr 18, 2010 @ 13:57:45
Hey HemiUberalles, find a wheel dealer where you live and check out the Crager S/S and the American Torque Thrust Series wheels. They both make a wheel like what you are looking for, or just search online. They would most likely be cheaper in price too. Tracy
Apr 18, 2010 @ 14:30:49
Hi Sublime, great article. Dodge/Chrysler is like all big business if the Big Cheeses don’t think it up it’s a dumb idea or we can’t do that he’s not in managment. Hmmmm ever heard of a TV show called UNDERCOVER BOSS, thats what their doing, finding out whats wrong within their CO. by talking and working with their employees. It’s funny that I helped out Indy Rider find his car but no one from Dodge seemed to care, this is a problem they need to focus on helping their CUSTOMERS, and listening to ideas that we come up with. Whats the big deal a good idea is a good idea, no matter who it comes from. I saw somewhere that there was interest from 1500 buyers for Furious Fuchsia in the SRT8 but nothing from the boys at Dodge. They want to only build 400 in SRT8 but if this 1500 number is correct why not build more then the 400. Is the car czar stopping Dodge from doing their job, because this guy doesn’t know $hit about cars or the making of them from a hole in the ground. Oh well, Sublime we know what we want, and how to get the job done, but again we don’t work for the suit and tie guys so why should they listen. I well continue to keep throwing ideas out here and see if they do answer one of them. Take it easy bro. Tracy
Apr 18, 2010 @ 15:19:12
RLD, how about an header option for the V8 Challengers, that factory exhaust manifold can’t move the spent gas out of the cylinders as well as a well tuned header. Installed at the factory this would make this a great option for the true CAR GUY. We want our cars to have the old 60s-70s sound but without the hassle of doing it ourselves or paying to get it done at a shop. If you keep the price low lets say 350.00 to 400.00 I’d know I’d check that option off when ordering my car.
Apr 18, 2010 @ 15:31:06
HEMIhead and others, I know we have complained about the paint jobs on our Challengers, Chargers, 300s, etc. and now I know why. Here is what Marchionne said about the Brampton plant because now he would like to produce Alpha Romeos there: Marchionne also hinted in January that if Fiat does decide to build Alfas in Brampton, Fiat would invest in the plant’s aging paint shop, which is one of the oldest Chrysler has.
“I think that the paint shop that you’ve got in Brampton may need some intervention,” Marchionne said at the time.
Faria said upgrading a paint shop can cost hundreds of millions of dollars — an investment a company doesn’t make lightly.
If they upgrade the paint shop then we know they are serious, especially if they continue to build Challengers, Chargers, and 300s.
Apr 18, 2010 @ 23:41:39
I was looking around on you tube and found a two door Charger concept car video, just pics but some of them really looked great. Take a look I think this guy has some great ideas about how it should look.
Apr 19, 2010 @ 00:31:54
It’s under the title of new dodge charger 2010 2 door.
Apr 19, 2010 @ 06:44:44
Sublime, that’s disturbing as hell! Local autobody shops probably have better equipment.
I was blaming it on that eco-friendly paint. We finally found an answer to that question/concern. RLD never did reply on it.
As for your earlier comments/post about Fiat taking over, you are correct.
It’s the end of everything we know Mopar, and the V8′s will go the way of the Dodo bird.
You can blame the government. They should have never let a healthy American company merge with the Germans/Daimler. What was the point in it? It just destroyed that company, and lot of people lost their jobs. Then they have the nerve to then question if they should give them bailout money. Daimler is the reason Chrysler is in the position they are in. And people don’t learn? Now Renault has an alliance with mercedes/daimler. Good luck with that!
Apr 19, 2010 @ 10:20:33
HEMInead,
Yes, my Plum Crazy Challenger has so much dust in the paint it is ridiculous. However, no one seams to care because everyone still tops and stares at it. Even so, they should lower the price if they aren’t going to pay attention to detail. I guess you could paint it with a brush or roller and it would still look good. The car is really stylish and they need to make more head turning cars if they want to stay in business. Daimler stold all of Chrysler’s money and nobody even cared. Now the government cares because they had to bail them out. Did you ever read the book, The Toyota Way? It stated that at the time before the merger with Daimler, Chrysler had 20 billion in reserves and made more of a profit on their cars than any other manufacturer. Toyota was afraid of them and did not know what to do. What a shame that the government let the Nazis from Daimler bleed Chrysler dry. They did it to Freightliner trucks as well.
Apr 19, 2010 @ 10:26:01
Tracy,
That design by Michael Leonhard has been out for a while. I still think the car is too stuby and the roofline is not as good as the original. It really is hard to beat the 1968-1970 Chargers. They just look good. I guess you could change the bumpers to meet the current standards and rake the front windshield a little, however that is all I would do. That is why those cars were in so many movies. They just look great!
Apr 19, 2010 @ 10:51:45
How abpout making a 20″ rally wheel that looks like the 1970 wheels for Challenger and Charger.
Apr 19, 2010 @ 10:54:31
We have been asking for that since the Challenger came out. It would look really sharp!
Apr 19, 2010 @ 10:56:01
Your right Sublime, Chrysler was the leanest manufacturer back then, that’s why it made
no sense to have them merge with Daimler. Ever read “Taken For A Ride”? What an egotistical
chump that Shrimp was. The U.S. government should do everything they can to recoup those bailout funds from Daimler, because what they were doing was pure criminal.
My buddy has a 2008 Challenger SRT8, and he questioned the paint and why the heck it was so
bad for a $50K car. Now we know why.
Apr 19, 2010 @ 11:00:13
They should round up the Daimler folks and put them in concentration camps. Maybe they will want a shower. Oh, I am being a little harsh. however, look at all the people who have lost their jobs because of them.
Apr 20, 2010 @ 18:32:20
Hello all, just checked out the Dodge web site and you can now look at the 2010 Challenger brochure. It even includes Furious Fuchsia. I hope to see them on the dealer lots soon. Possibily about June? Thanks Dodge. Tracy
Apr 20, 2010 @ 19:54:34
Hey Tracy, they told us they would have the brochures by January 15th at the latest. Oh well, I guess they are going thru a change in marketing people. They really need to take actual photos of the car and not use these photoshopped pictures. The Challenger looks good so don’t screw it up with these semi real photos/drawings. I have taken pictures of my car that look much better than these. At any rate, I am just glad that they have some brochures on the website. I guess Sergio is going to unveil his 5 year plan tomorrow for Fiat/Chrysler so they needed to do something. Hopefully they are on track for some more stunning new vehicles. Should be interesting, however, they need to expedite the process before they lose too may customers for good. At least Dodge’s products are safer than Toyota’s. Who in their right mind would buy a Toyota?
Apr 20, 2010 @ 22:05:44
Sublime, most buyers of Toyotas are most likely buying on Toyotas old history of good car low price. What they don’t understand is that the Big 3 had to make their cars better or buyers would stop buying. While not all American cars are made in America(HHR Chevy Mexico, Camaro Chevy Canada, and Challenger Dodge Canada) our cars quality has made great strides for the better. I talk up the Challenger any time I get the chance and I let people know that I’m a Chevy guy but I sure don’t want a new Camaro. I sure want a Challenger though, because hands down it is the better car. Like I’ve said in the past I’ll buy what has a Bitchin look not who makes it. Look at 60-70s cars this way, what if all the designers had worked for different Companies. Could the Chevelle as we know it been called a Charger and the Charger a Chevelle if the designers had worked in the opposite Co’s. Thats my spin on why I see a car for it’s looks not who makes it. Think about it, if Carrol Shelby brought the Cobra to Dodge it would still look like it does only have a different name as Dodge Cobra, and it would of had a wedge or Hemi. Hell take the engine designers and send them to different factories and you would have the same thing. Chrysler Big Block Rat motor and Chevy Hemi. Or how about the most popular engine made the small block chevy being called the small block ford. Boy this should get a few people talking but isn’t that what we’re here for,to look at things in a different way. I may be nuts but it’s a good argument to make, look at the car not who makes it. I would really like to hear from you all on this, tell me/us what you think. Tracy
Apr 20, 2010 @ 23:25:42
Tracy, you hit the nail on the head. Looks, aesthetics, style, eye catching appeal. That is the bottom line. People will do anything for something that they think looks great. I heard a whine coming down the street and I said is that a blower, and here comes a tubbed black 1970 Chevy Chevelle with white stipes down the hood and trunk with a monster blower coming thru the hood. I have always been a mopar man, however, the ’70 Chevelle was a classic design that always caught my eye. Beautiful car as were most muscle cars in the late 60s and early 70s. The extra bends, chrome touches, made them look sharp. They sold a lot of Chevelles and Camaros because they looked good and they were reasonably priced. The new Camaro’s front end looks bent (something is out of whack). The taillights look cheap as well. The overall shape isn’t bad, it just needs some tweaking. Bottom line, you can get one for a reasonable price and beat a guy who bought a Challenger and paid 10 grand more. That just isn’t right. Mopars were more expensive back in the 60s and 70s, however, they beat Chevys stock from the factory every day. Now they don’t even have that going for them. If they can make the Challenger as fast and at a more competitive price, then the magazines will give them more favorable reviews and people will start coming to the showrooms again. Slip the Viper motor in it or put a Paxton blower on them…something to justify the extra cost. I was going to buy an SRT, however, having to use super unleaded and then get 9-12 miles per gallon – forget it. This is my everyday car and I am not going to race it. The MDS was a huge factor in my decision and they need to make it work on the 6.1 or 6.4 liter motor. My son is saving his money. He wants to buy a stripped black SE Challenger and paint it sublime. Leave the engine compartment black and the inside of the trunk, however paint the door jambs green. He want to buy the T/A mopar hood and paint it flat black and then put the T/A stripes down the side. There is a company on ebay that sells the SRT wheels in chrome for $200 each. Get an SRT flat black duct tail spoiler and the car will look great. All for about $25 grand. I am hoping that the V6 isn’t too fast so he won’t get in too much trouble with it. He wants to drive mine, however, no one drives it but me. Hopefully, Dodge will offer the sublime soon so I don’t have to go to all this trouble, but it will probably be offered only on the R/T and SRT models. We shall see. By the way, the Viper looks like a Cobra on steroids. I still think 100 grand for a Dodge is a little much. There has got to be a way to keep down the price.
Apr 21, 2010 @ 00:05:04
Sublime, your son has a good idea to get the car he wants. I’ve read enough of the posts here to know that most buyers want ALL colors not just some. Wake up Dodge we buy you stay in business, offer all color ALL YEAR long and make people happy. I don’t even own a Challenger but I recommend it to people who are looking to buy a new car. Hell you are making the best looking truck on the market but I’ve never checked the price on one but if it’s like the cars you’re selling I’m sure it’s over priced too. Think volume lower price = more sales. Sorry but thats the way it is. I had a 70 SS396 4SPD hauled ass but I killed the motor and sold car to a friend for $675.00 in like 83. What a mistake should have fixed it but had to get a 4X4 bad call. Tracy
Apr 21, 2010 @ 21:44:40
It’s raining in sunny Southern Cal todat/tonight. So how is everyone doing tonight. It seems like it’s the same voices on here talking back and forth, but hey thats ok. Kinda suprised no one wants to talk about my comment from last night about the cars being made by a different maker. Come on guys think about it ,the car hasn’t changed only who ended up building them did. Let your mind wonder around a bit, the Mustang could have been built by Dodge if the designer worked there instead of Ford. It might have to go a little deeper but for the most part I think I’m on the right track. Think about it and throw out some ideas. Tracy

Just saw a story on Yahoo about new cars both foriegn and domestic, looks like Chrysler is stuck at a 3% approval rate. They think the Japs and Germans are building better cars then we are and I’m sorry but thats just not true any more. I think the Big 3 learned their mistakes back in the late 80′s and started to build a better car. Sadly the damage had been done and people didn’t want to look at Made in America and went elsewhere. The bailouts have not helped as most people see these businesses being run by a bunch of dummies. It’s really to bad because all 3 have been making some great cars and trucks for some time now. I know that if a dealer screwed me over at some point in time I wouldn’t go back, but I would look for the dealership that is going to treat me right. Maybe alot of people might still be thinking that about Dodge / Chrysler making the K Car and some other cars from their past and don’t want to go take a look at what is new at Dodge/Chrysler? They have NO Marketing so is word of mouth the way they are selling their cars.??? Come on Dodge listen to us we’re here trying to help and these blogs remain silent, silent , silent, how about some answers. Tracy

“Stallkamp: control was the problem at DCX”
Thomas Stallkamp, the respected final president of Chrysler Corporation, wrote to Automotive News to discuss the Daimler-Renault-Nissan pact. Referring to Dieter Zetsche’s claim that he had learned from the failure of DaimlerChrysler and would now focus on “cost savings and car development projects rather than control,” Stallkamp wrote,
Funny, I thought those were the stated objectives of our infamous marriage “of equals.”
I have been waiting 12 years for someone at Daimler to admit that Daimler’s quest for absolute control was a primary factor in the failure of DaimlerChrysler. The fact was only too obvious to the many people who worked at the company and tried to make it a success.
He finished: “And to Carlos Ghosn: Watch your back.”

Hello guys, just got back from a Dodge dealer where they attempted to help me out with the FF Challenger. They tried to order one and it was NOT availble. What I was told is that FIAT likes to say here comes this product, car, or color but it doesn’t show up for about 6 months. So this salesman said that the FF Challengers would most likely be 2011′s. So don’t hold out for one in 2010. I’d check with your dealers from time to time but this guy really seamed to know what he was talking about. See ya all later Tracy

Tracy, that is the same thing that happened with the Sping Detonator Yellow edition that came out right before Christmas. I am glad I bought my plum crazy Challenger last month because it will be at least another two years before we see sublime. By then I will want to trade this one in anyway for a 6.4 liter (392 cubic inch) HEMI. Maybe it will have a blower or twin turbos with MDS and still average 20 mpg. Who knows maybe they will just stuff the Viper motor in it (SRT10 edition). Maybe it will be an all electric plug in with a Superbird wing on the back with solar panels on it.

Sublime, solar panels I can’t wait. What is the problem with these guys, are they sitting around all day eatting meatballs and drinking cheap wine? I guess we’ll never know what they’er doing but selling cars and answering our questions isn’t one of them. Hopefully( Fix It Again Tony) will figure out that BSing the American car buyer is not something to do. They need to make their annoucements when they have the cars ready to go, not some future date.
