Challenger Earns Its Stripes With New “Hood To Fender” Option |

In an effort to give loyal Challenger fans even more of an opportunity to personalize their rides, Dodge is expanding their already sizable list of factory options with the addition of the Red “Hood to Fender” stripe. Available exclusively on Challenger R/T models finished in Brilliant Black or Bright White, the fierce accent is a fitting introduction to the raw, throaty power under the hood.
The new accessory is available for order now from your local Dodge dealership and will officially hit the streets in April.

RLD, that is good news. The more variety the better. People like choices and they like their cars to be unique. Keep coming up with more choices and you will sell more cars. I think black and red looks sharp together. A black or red interior would look even sharper.

It does look sharp. More options (colors) for SE would be great. I hope we get a lot more choices with the 2011 refresh.

The stripe reminds me of a 1971 Plymouth GTX…Looks good !!!
Now, if Dodge could not have such a high seat position in its cars,it would be more comfortable for me to drive or ride around in.I am a tall guy and the seat height is set up for short people.I am well over 6 feet tall and their cars like all the new cars are not totally comfortable due to its high seat position,yes,I lower the seat to the lowest setting and it is still too high.I love my old Challenger I fit perfect in that,as my new Dodge Ram, perfect seat position.Please adress this issue and make real men happy !!

Well function hood scoops make a bit more power at 70 or more mph,but who drives a car at 70 mph all the time,around here I would lose my license..well I do know of some quiet roads I blast down daily…but for aesthetics,a functional hood would look a bit more upscale..But it is a hot looking car either way !! Hemi Orange they look super sweet !!

- Isn’t this an oxymoron…more opportunity….exclusively?????
Dodge – your customers have a wide range of spending capability. Make options available on all makes, models, colors, etc. Make a few limited edition Challengers to keep that base happy, but otherwise, open the floodgates.
I love my ’08 SRT, but man, if I had the opportunity to customize upon ordering, I would have jumped all over it. Not only would you have made me happier, I would have spent more money!

Most people buy their car first then customize it.I dont know of any manufacture that puts a bunch of add ons from the factory,because each person has a different taste for add ons.Its good what they are doing now,if you want one ore more things buy them,from Mopar..that is great !!..Who else offers pink cars,purple cars,orange cars ,and yes people I believe lime green will be available as a limited edition color as it was on the Charger a few years back.But snakeskin green would look sweet as well…

Keep these options coming! How about a Hurst shfiter, Hood Pins and Shaker Hood for the R/T Classic and SRT8 and Classic Wheels for the SRT8 too. Thanks for giving us more options to choose from.

Well, just north of me in Washington state, the posted speed on I-5 is 70, so maybe someone doing alot of freeway driving.
Beyond that, well, you know how it is when you have a muscle car, you gotta stretch those legs sometimes. Before I put my ’69 charger in the body shop, i drove it everywhere anytime I got a chance. Let me tell you, there was more than a few occasions where I should have recieved a ticket, but in almost 3 1/2 years of driving it (sometimes sideways and once at 142 MPH according to the speedo!) I never got a ticket or crashed the car. Got the car sideways a few times, that’s fun as long as you don’t overdue it, hehe.

my point is that when they make options available, they shouldn’t limit those options to a select car, like the R/T. if i’m going to spend $45k on a challenger srt8, i should be able to tell them that i want the 20in chrome clad wheels or stripe packages that are already available on some R/T models. i know there have to be certain specialty items available only to the top end cars or limited production cars, but something simple like wheels and stripes should be available across the board; SE, R/T, SRT8.
just my opinion though.

I agree. I personally would want to het the smaller wheels/bigger tires that an SE comes with if I ever bought an R/T. Performance or not, I’m never gonna have 20inch or 22 inch wheels on any vehicle I own. Just doesn’t look right to me.

Understood,they should have a few more options for the SRT models.Well they do now on a pink SRT with different wheels,but I would take an Orange SRT they way they are now !! I think they do a good job on the R/T and SE.I see alot with stripes,different wheels ect,but agree with you..
Also, I think the Challenger/Charger should come stock with the chrome 18 or 20 inch wheels,to me smaller wheels 17 inch on those cars look hideous,and with the larger side panels these days it needs big wheels,it doesnt cut it like my 73 Challenger(70 clone) looks great with 14inch magum 500′s or my 15 inch rallye wheels I swap around once in a while,but the new Challenger is alot bigger..alot..and it needs bigger wheels,chrome 20′s looks perfect.

Though the new challenger is bigger, i think the reason they look hideous with 17 inch wheels is because the 17 wheels they offer are well, kinda hideous. I’ll bet that if they put a 17 or even 16 inch set of cragers or crager look-a-likes, with bf goodrich radial gt tires, that it would look great. Just my opinion.

Sorry, am I missing something here? Hasn’t there always been an option for these ugly hood-to-fender stripes on the R/Ts? Or is the color red the new angle here? They look like crap in any color…just one man’s opinion, of course!
Still waiting for Dodge to bring the Challenger to Japan…wake up, guys! The Mustangs and Fords are officially here, and Dodge is losing out big time in the Japanese market. Plenty of Chargers here…but Dodge doesn’t offer the Challenger. Go figure.

The stripes in the picture look like the “war paint” type of stripe that was on some of the first 09 R/T Challengers…..

Amendment to my earlier post: I meant to write “Mustangs and Camaros” but for some reason wrote “Mustangs and Fords.” Whoops.
In any case, Mustangs and Camaros are being officially imported into Japan, while Dodge does not bring over the Challenger. Pity, that.
And just to reiterate, haven’t these hood-to-fender stripes always been available as an option on R/Ts? Just different colors? Seems this whole RLD entry is touting these stripes as something completely new…or am I just reading it wrong?

I’ve seen those stripes on a 2009 R/T Challenger at my dealership late Dec ’08.
They are not new. Maybe they mean the red color. The ones I’ve seen were flat black, on
a orange car.

Yes,its the color that is new for the stripes…you could get those on the 2009 R/T but not the color..its reminiscent of a 1971 Plymouth GTX they had those stripes…

I think you are wrong smaller wheels on the Challenger will look horrible..It is not designed the same as the 70-74 ,on those 14 or 15 inch wheels look right.The new Challenger sits higher (roof is inches higher than the old ones),taller side bodylines and anything smaller than 18 inch wheels looks horrible..Its like having a 1970 Challenger with 12 inch wheels it doesnt look good.The 17′s on those cars looks like a 1970 Challenger with 13 inch rims..hideous….

All this nitpicking about wheels,stripes is fine I guess,but I sure hope Chrysler does not have a disaster like Toyota !! Then we would have no stripes or wheels to complain about on the Challenger !! I sure hope Chrysler quality control is on its top game right now,triple checking everything,we dont need a devastating desaster like Toyota has..

Ok, I’ll compromise. How about leavng the huge rims and adding bigger/taller tires then? You know, so they look like they belong on a muscle car, not a rice burner/tuner car.

I see what your saying I guess I now want to see a new Challenger with 15 Rallye wheels,wide tires and white lettered writing…even a set of old style Mopar Magnum 500′s with white lettered tires…now you have me thinking…it may look good..You never know,I was just thinking before because the side body panels are huge these days and thought it needed bigger wheels,but I love the old Challenger’s with Rallye wheels or Magnums..so you may be on to something,really want to see it done now…

Hmmm, letter tires, now that would be cool. Big fan of the Rallye wheels as well.
The stripes options are cool, as they do offer a level of customizing, and don’t cost much to offer. Hope Dodge keeps them coming.
How about the Petty Blue Challenger? The Petty garage model at Barrett was nice…..

Whould like to hear from someone from Dodge about my invention that I submited resently. I recevied a phone called 3/12/10 at 6 o’clock pm from the number 248 944 7017 stating it was from dodge. When i greatly try calling the number back at 6:07PM the recorder stated this isn’t a working number at dodge! How may I get some help on this matter?
