The Viper is cool but how many people can afford this thing? For a hundred grand this car should have a sleek wild looking interior. You can buy a hopped up Vette for a lot cheaper and it is just about as fast. I hate Vettes, but you have to admit that the fit and finish is a lot better. That is why Dodge should not try to compete in this arena. People who can afford a Viper expect perfection and it is no where near the level of quality of a Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Ferarri, Lambo, etc. When Vipers were in the 70-80 grand range, that was about right. 100 Gs is just way too much. They will be sitting at the dealers for years.

I know I have posted it as well, in the 40 to 50K range you expect something special.
I love the vipers but the price is out of my interest range.

Hey 440, you are probably correct, however, these Challengers will never be any Dodge Daytona or any HEMI 'cuda. All I am saying is that if you are going to pay 40 grand for a Challenger, then it better be built well and not look cheap and have flaws in the paint. I like the interior option idea so there is more that differentiates a base model from a high end SRT model.

Sublime,
People have been paying up to $500,000 for a Dodge..thought a different year of coarse..say a 69 Hemi Daytona,70-71HemiCuda conv,30's Imperial, mid 50's early 60's 300 letter cars ..though I would agree ,the Viper would sell better priced around a new Corvette,if it would be possible...by the way I want a new Ram SRT-10 those are sweet trucks !! Probably a small market as well for a Viper powered Challenger..but 50 grand..good luck !!!

Also,I dont think Chrysler could afford to build a cheap Hemi Challenger..the journelists and even you mocked Dodge's interiors,so a Hemi Challenger with manual wind up windows, vynal seats, rubber floors !!! The journelists would never, ever say any Dodge has a good interior !!! The days of bench seats, vynal floors, manual wind up windows are done..Look at the Journey all the trim levels have different interior material (like all new Chrysler models) and people look at the cheap version and mock the whole line, thinking the cheap/base model is the only interior option they have, then continue to mock the higher models without even looking at them personally..I think Chrysler should just have 2 levels of interiors..the highest level they have now for the base/mid models, then a new higher end interior for the new top end levels...

Are you dropping the Viper or not? If you are, then why are you wasting all this time on it? If you aren't dropping it, then can you make an affordable Viper again. Paying over 100 grand for a Dodge is just a little too much. Maybe I am wrong, however, do you sell a lot of these cars? I guess if it is as fast as a Lambo or Ferarri for 1/3 the price, then it is a good deal. I just wonder if there isn't a market for a Challenger with a Viper motor in it at the $50,000 price range. You may sell a lot more and come out ahead in the long run. You could call it the exotic edition or SRT10. The economy is in dire straights so maybe you should have some low cost muscle cars like you did in the late 60s and early 70s. No frills, just all out horsepower and handling. These $43,000 mopar exterior group optioned R/T Challengers are just too expensive, especially when the hood scoop isn't functional. You might as well buy an SRT. I really think you are overpricing your self out of business again.
