We know you high-octane gear heads out there want to see more of the stunning 2012 Charger SRT8. From the awesome6.4L HEMI® under that domed scooped aluminum hood to the great new interior complete with a new SRT exclusive steering wheel and paddle shifters, enthusiasts have been asking for more since we rolled it out. Therefore, we had a chance to trap chief engineer David McDonald during the recent Chicago Auto Show for the inside scoop on this stunning new super car from Dodge.

Perosnally, I think the “R/T” looks better. The more retro cues you can leave on there, the better, including the hood indents. Too bad the “SRT” couldn’t get a shaker scoop, or an air grabber scoop styled hood, if it has to have something different……

Must say,I liked the slanted in sideview front ends of the 06-10 Charger’s than the flat front of the 2011′s..
Guess I will stick to a Dodge Ram 1500 or Ram 1500 (what the hell are they called now ? that alone pissed many Mopar people off,way to lose sales,alienate loyal owners) another reason I have no confidence with new vehicles.
The Charger is a nice car,for a new car,you know daily driver,grocery shopping,puddle jumper ect….
That being said,it will never be as cool or as good looking as the old Mopars..and hey the old cars have no black boxes or computers that they will one day use against you and screw you if you crash !!

I guess you do read these comments – the video has been now been changed to the Dodge Charger Walkaround. Good looking car – Dodge did a great job upgrading the new Charger.

Must say,the paddle shifter in my opinion for the computer game crowd..The Charger has muscle/supercar roots so a floor shifter,either standard or the good old days Slap Stik automatic,I feel odd,strange pushing gear shift selections located on the steering wheel !! That is not right !! Must be because people are too fat and lazy to move their stubby arm to the floor mounted shifter to change gears,odd,just odd !!!Sorry,Most Mopar fans couldnt give a crap about F-1 racing,where paddle shifting is from..
Thankfully,you didnt get rid of the AutoStick shifter,never do !! I cant see myself using a Paddle shifter,nor wearing a pink and purple shirt and headgear with my front teeth sticking out bucktooth style,hair in a a pony tail,braided,wearing tights driving my Charger using the paddle shifter ! It aint going to happen !! I was running low 4 sec 0-60 and low 12′s with a stock 1968 440 Charger R/T (engine never rebuilt,orig trans,rear end ect..) decades ago,it doesnt take a paddle shifter to do so !!

440, people nowadays play video games and are glued to their touch screen cell phones. They would hurt themselves if they had to shift an old hemi four speed. Heaven forbid if they burned some calories. If you are not at least 50 pounds overweight, then you aren’t part of the American majority. I bet you these paddle shifters will be a big draw. People will love them, but I am still old school and think it cheapens it up with more electronic lazy man technology. If it sells cars, then that is great. I just cannot get over painting the inside of the bumber gloss black. It makes the car look like it is missing the front end or grille. Just a big black hole. The other thing that really looks bad is how they are making all of their new carsSUVs with the rear doors opening up out of the back wheel well. It looks like they ran out of room and you loose the sporty look. They did that with the Sebring and Avenger and that is another reason why their sales dropped. It just doesn’t look right.

That car is begging for manual trans, headers, and exh so loud it makes women and children cry when you drive by. And yes I think the r/t retro hood looks better than the srt. Really this car would be perfect with a 69 charger nose. Hmmmmm wonder if a challenger nose could be grafted on? If I only had the time and money to find out.
