Dodge and Mopar® Team Up to Support NASCAR® in Canada |

Our neighbors to the north are into more than just hockey, curling and snowmobiling. They also love sights and sounds of high-horsepower V8 engines racing side-by-side and bumper-to-bumper. That’s why we’ve teamed up with our fellow gearheads over at Mopar® and have committed to support NASCAR® in Canada for 2011. In our official role as automotive sponsor, the awesome 2011 Charger R/T and its powerful 5.7L HEMI® will be the pace car at many events throughout the season.
We’re also putting some more greenbacks up for grabs for eligible racers. The “Dodge –Mopar Fast Five” will reward the top five participating teams at every race. We’ve also sweetened the deal with the “Mopar Top Dodge Cup” that will recognize the top-five eligible Dodge-Mopar race teams for superior performance over the course of the entire season as determined by the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series final championship driver standings.
“Our Dodge vehicles and Mopar parts are a natural fit with NASCAR racing in Canada,” said Ed Broadbear, our vice president of marketing in Canada. “Motorsports is at the heart of Dodge. In fact, many of our products are race-inspired, which is why it is so vital for us to support and recognize the passion of drivers and fans that follow the sport.”
We’ll also be the event sponsor for the NAPA Auto Parts 200 as part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series on August 20 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.

Thanks Dodge and Mopar for sponsoring the racing events here in Canada.
Went to see the Nationwide Race and the Canadian Tire series race in Montreal in
2009. It was a blast! Other than the normal advertising signage and a few Ram trucks, there was not much from Dodge anywhere to be found. No merchandise hauler or Mopar displays anywhere. No reps or fan tents either. I ended up spending about $600 at the
track just on merchandise from other vendors. Would have spent more if Mopar/Dodge had some gear there to buy. Got a nice Picture Of Brad Keselowski, though he was not with Dodge at the time. And a really awesome picture of myself with two gorgeous Bud girls! FUN-WOW!

If Dodge can only support two or three teams in the US, then why are we supporting NASCAR in Canada? Don’t get me wrong, I think the Canadians deserve Dodge support as much or more than Americans, however, if it isn’t going to be much support then why bother. Do it right or just don’t do it.

GREAT! I have watched what’s going on in the Canadian Tire series the last few years and love how well the Dodges do up there. I wish the races were on TV in the U.S.
NOW, if only Dodge would support the vastly more popular CWTS, NNS, and the Cup series here in the U.S.! I just got back from two weeks at Charlotte, camping near the track and watching the All-Star and 600 races. It is sooooooooooooooo disappointing to see how the support for Dodge and Dodge drivers is shrinking. A few years ago, I would see quite a few folks with Dodge Motorsports shirts, jackets, flags, etc. Now, they are almost non-existent. There was NO Dodge Motorsports vendor trailer there. In fact, I think it’s been two years since I’ve seen one at the racetrack! Every race I attend, though, I see Chevy, Ford, and Toyota Racing/Motorsports trailers. Toyota had huge displays set up, a Toyota hospitality tent for Toyota owners/fans, and a Toyota truck up on a rotating display in the air. There was Toyota signage all over the speedway and Toyota Tundra trucks were on the track carrying the drivers in the pre-race ceremonies. What ever happened to Team Dodge? I was a member and went on a couple of race trips with them; then the program was canceled and has never been resurrected. Very disappointing that we Dodge/Nascar fans have so little support from our favorite manufacturer. It’s getting really difficult to stay with the Dodge camp. We need more Dodge teams out there! We need the “KING” back!!!!! Now, I’ve read recently that K-Automotive is looking to go with another manufacturer due to lack of support from Dodge. The Keselowski’s are one of the FEW pro-Mopar racing families out there. C,mon Dodge; how about some support for these RARE loyal Mopar racing guys?

I’ve got an idea! How about taking the money you’re wasting on Viper Cup racing, which nobody watches, and the Hart & Huntington motorcycle racing team, which may sell more Kawasakis but doesn’t sell Dodges, and give that money to the Keselowkis at K-Automotive? The Keselowskis are a RARE thing in Nascar; they are Mopar guys!!! How about some support for them??????

RLD, take tr4petty’s suggestion and run with it! I’ll put a challenge out to DODGE;
Let’s see if you can make the Keselowski’s a loyal “DODGE” team, like the other
manufacturers have with some of the other teams. Right now, you have no loyalty
on those Nascar tracks! Any driver you have out there will jump ship in a heartbeat,
to another manufacturer if the situation gives them an opportunity. Totally sickening
for a Dodge fan, and loyal customer. If you can’t acheive this, then get the heck out of it!

Get Richard Petty Back! I try and buy what I can for my car from “Richard Petty’s Garage”
online, before I’d buy it from Mopar. Even now I still support him. That guy is a legend for Mopar fans, and if you can’t keep him in the Dodge camp, then I think you are done!

Chrysler Canada has their own operations in Canada.
They could be using their Canadian money for it,remember the Canadian government also gave them bailout monies,not just the U.S money but they also got a seperate cheque from Canada(yes they repaid them both,minus the stock)
Chrysler/Dodge/Mopar sponsered Cascar in Canada in the 80′s-00′s,Nascar bought Cascar out a few years ago,I actually found Cascar better than Nascar,it seemed more old school !!It seemed you didnt have to have a billion dollars backing you up.
Furthermore,the Charger is built in Canada so they should race them there..only seems fair to me,they build them all !!

I 100% agree they should have more Dodge Motorsports vendors at events,like you said Toyota had…
But one thing ,Dodge lacks one thing that Toyota has…a truck !! Dodge doesnt make trucks anymore !!!Or do they ? That really confuses me,I have read statements saying Ram is still a Dodge,and some saying Ram is not a Dodge WTF !!!So,if they dont even know what their vehicles are ,how are they going to have setups at events,they wont have a Dodge truck to tow the trailers there !! Guess they will use a Toyota !!

440, the RAM brand is simply Dodge trucks branded as RAMs for marketing purposes. It’s the same truck, built in the same factories, with the same parts, as they were before the name change. I still call them Dodge Rams, myself, because I can’t get used to the name change.
I don’t have a problem with Viper Cup, 440. But the audience for Viper Cup amounts to about the number of people in the women’s bathroom at a Nascar race. There’s no comparison when it comes to the return on the dollar spent. Viper Cup pits Vipers against Vipers, for one thing. So what do you prove with that? If they want to show what the Viper can do, they need to race it against the competition like Corvette and Porsche. Anyway, if Dodge has limited funs for Motorsports, they should spend it in Nascar where they’ll get a return on their investment. If they’re not serious about Nascar, they should bow out, and quit embarassing us Dodge/Nascar fans with a feeble effort that only shows them running mid-pack or worse with only 3 cars on the track in a field of 43!

@tr4petty: Well I have NO problem with the ViperCup. Versus tv was showing the races last year, I havent been looking for this years (2011). I do remember watching Tanner Foust racing in the ViperCup as a guest driver.
Sports Car Racing is in the Viper’s DNA. Hell, the Viper was racing down Mulsane Straight at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with Team Oreca, and were domination the GT class. AND winning over all at the 24 of Daytona… with Team Oreca.
idk if you watch Sports Car Racing. But guess what? All that was before Dodge came back in Nascar…
I dont understand why Dodge sponsors Hart & Huntington motorcycle racing team. But I guess for us Mopar fan, this is a time for rebuild within the company. So I guess that is why we see a very limited racing activity.
But Dodge/Ram did enter in the Traxxas TORC Series, with a few teams/driver. And Mr. Samuel Hübinette won on debut.
