Challenger SRT8 Races to the Summit |

Cars tuned and tweaked to perfection have their place on the battlefield. Come race day a competitive driver wants to know that every detail of his vehicle has been looked over; every adjustment made, in hopes of yielding the most aggressive results. This was the case for the majority of the drivers during the Spectre 341 Challenge — a 5.2-mile open road race on Nevada State Highway 341 complete with 22 turns, 1,200+ feet of elevation change, and only a few guardrails. But what of the car and driver that comes to compete, free of modifications?
One such pair made its way to this desert playground, and left making 341 history. Kevin Wesley drove a stock 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 and aggressively pushed a 3:39.9 on his second run. Not only did this earn him a spot in the 3:41 Club, but also making him the fastest competitor in an unmodified vehicle – and did we mention the Challenger was equipped with an automatic transmission! Kevin is proud to again prove that Dodge produces vehicles that leave the line with as much intensity and performance as their European rivals. Kudos to you, Kevin.

A very good run. The Challenger beat Vettes, Camaros, Mustang GT, and a Ferrari. The 341 site said an unmodified Nissan GT-R was slightly faster, but that is ok.
The 341 site needs pictures of the Challenger. Didn’t see one. Also needed a picture of the Winnebago driven by Clark Griswald that turned in a 8:21.5 time.

ChuckZ – Correction, the driver of the Challenger beat the driver of the Vette and the Ferrari. No way with equal drivers does a portly Challenger beat a Corvette or a Ferrari through a road course.
