Dodge HEMI® Power Dominates at the NHRA Arizona Nationals

The sun wasn’t the only thing that blistered the starting line this past weekend in Chandler, Arizona. Dodge vehicles blazed the strip at Firebird International Raceway and bagged the “Wally” in both the Funny Car and Pro Stock categories.

In the Funny Car class, “Fast” Jack Beckman drove his Aaron’s/Valvoline-sponsored Dodge Charger R/T to a 4.35-second run over fellow Johnny Gray in his Charger R/T Funny Car. Beckman’s win moves him into the points lead for the first time in his career.

In the door-slammer division, it was an all Dodge Avenger final. Rookie standout Vincent Nobile had a .009 reaction time, fast enough to hold off fellow Dodge driver Allen Johnson. Johnson ran a slightly quicker elapsed- time but could not catch Nobile at the stripe. Nobile’s victory bumped him up in points and he now sits in the third spot.

The 2011 NHRA Full Throttle season is starting to wind down but our teams are very much in the hunt for the championship. There are only two events left and the competition will be fierce. For more pit chatter, drive over to NHRA.com
