Moparty at the Strip
Posted on April 12, 2012
Vegas, baby. For Dodge enthusiasts—and Chrysler, Ram, and Plymouth fans, too— one of the great events of the year is the Moparty at the Strip. Las Vegas Motor Speedway, neatly situated at the Northern end of the fabulous Las Vegas strip, plays host to this giant event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Organizers plan to make the 2012 edition, scheduled for April 13-15, the best Moparty yet.
A full-immersion gearhead weekend, the Moparty features a juried car show, a swap meet, and a car corral, among other attractions. Naturally, there’s drag racing on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s world-class quarter-mile strip. Along with the regular elimination brackets, this year’s drag event includes a Challenger vs. Mustang vs. Camaro ponycar shootout with a king-of-the-hill format. Whether you’re into classic Mopar muscle or the latest Chargers and Challengers, there’s something for every Dodge fan at the Moparty.
The Moparty’s guests of honor this year are legendary engine builders Ray and David Barton. Ray Barton is known throughout the motorsports world for engineering the most powerful Hemis around, while his son David now carries on the winning tradition. You’ll want to keep your pen handy to collect autographs from these and all the other motorsports heroes in attendance. And as long as you’re in town, you may as well take in all the other attractions Las Vegas is noted for – or, as thousands of Moparty guests do, you can simply use the evenings to cruise your Dodge on the neon-lined Las Vegas Strip. When the Moparty people come to town, that’s a scene in itself. For more info go to matslv.com.
